Morten Andersen finished his remarkable 25-year NFL career as the league’s all-time leading scorer and its leader in games played. So what does it take for a one time foreign exchange student, who had never seen a football to reach this level of greatness for so long — he calls it “A Certain Kind of Stubborn” — the title of his forthcoming book.
Despite not being picked up for almost 2 years, Morten got up each morning, suited up in his Vikings gear, put his Giants Helmet on and kicked field-goals while kids played around him.
“For every no I heard, I echoed ten yeses back to myself. It was a feeling of great resolve. I would start each day by reminding myself that what I was doing was worthwhile and part of my plan not anyone else’s. Therein lies the secret behind my stubbornness: a deep understanding of my success journey and a realistic view of my skill.”
