Be Human First 150 150 33Voices

One of my highest goals is to be around smart people discussing important issues impacting the world. With the 33voices platform, I get the privilege of speaking to some of the most influential thinkers in the world on an ongoing basis and sharing their thinking with you. In early September, I interviewed Stan Slap, founder of Slap company and author of the pioneering book Bury My Heart At Conference Room B. You can access our interview here. Our conversation ignited a spark that I haven’t felt in quite some time, and led to a brainstorming session that I arranged with Stan and one of his partners, Joel.

The gist of our time together centered around what’s right with the world and how together we can contribute to making it even better. Stan has been helping managers of some of the world’s most respected companies to inject Humanity into their work and the results have been nothing short of stellar. Not only does being human first lead to a more rewarding career and more inspired teams, perhaps most important it allows each of us to appreciate our uniqueness. I want to encourage you to check out Stan’s work and treat yourself to spending time with his book – here are my top 5 take aways from our time together:

– Be Human First
– When you know the “Why and the How”, it’s natural to build a brand.
– Products have features, Emotions creates movements
– Brands are built internally first and then customers buy in
– Never, Ever make anyone feel SMALL!
