What can a serengeti teach you about yourself?
Before I met Stefan Swanepoel, my answer certainly would have been not much. But now, I realize that there’s a ton that we can learn from nature. As Stefan believes, “it’s a window into the very meaning of life that provides a simple way to understand, appreciate and remember the basic skills that all living beings need to survive and thrive.”
In his thrilling book – Surviving your Serengeti – Stefan uses the story of nearly 2 million wildebeest, gazelles and zebras to inspire you never to give up. Personally, nature has taught me two valuable lessons; the power of stillness and the flow of life. Despite the noise that surrounds us, particularly of the negative variety, a few minutes with nature is the switch we need to reconnect with our essence.
What you quickly realize is that while trees may bend and animals may run wild, in due time, everything reverts back to a natural state of calm and stillness. With every difficulty we face in life, there is relief.
Once I discovered that I was an ‘Enterprising Crocodile’, I knew that Stefan was on to something… .
