I’m one of those who believes that money can certainly buy happiness; but not in the material sense; more from a moral perspective. There’s no question that wealth creates peace of mind and financial freedom, and still most seem to be more unhappy with it than without it. As I read Richard Watts’ Fables of Fortune, I was reminded that a life based on virtue, character and gratitude is infinitely richer than one based on entitlement and external appearance. There’s a lot that the wealthy have that could enrich our lives, but there seems to be much more that we’d be better off avoiding.
