Make Thinking Visible
Although learning seems to be highly personalized; visuals tend to enhance our ability to recall important information. One of techniques that I’ve often used when presenting complex information is the use of visual metaphors, which enrich the conversation and create a deeper connection with others involved. In the new book – Making Thinking Visible – Ron Ritchhart, Mark Church and Karin demonstrate the technique CSI – Color, Symbol and Image as a simple way to make your thinking visible. It’s built on the premise that our minds are designed to think metaphorically and as such, when we link an idea to a particular color, and then assign a symbol and image to it, our learning becomes much more active and lasting. Think of a critical presentation that you’re about to make, and listen to Ron help you bring it to life…..
