Do Cool Sh*t
If tomorrow wasn’t promised to you, what would you do differently today? Ponder that question for a moment, and you’re likely to identify the one or two things that you really should be doing, but perhaps are not.
I remember when Wayne Gretzky said, “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take,” Not only was he describing his goal scoring philosophym more importantly, he was sharing a wise piece of wisdom that’s as relevant to business and life as it is to sports.
I recently stumbled upon a book, Do Cool Sh*t, that chronicled the journey of Miki Agrawal, a fast rising entrepreneur who perfectly personifies Gretzky’s mantra. While most millienials are trying to discover their identities, Miki is working on her fourth startup. Her first venture was the first of its kind farm-to-table, New York City Pizza restaurant, WILD. Not only was it a healthy alternative for friends and family to gather, it was a self-serving endeavor to address the recurring digestive issues that she and her twin sister, Radha continually encountered.
Her latest bet is Thinx, a technologically advanced leak and stain-resistant underwear for a woman to wear during her menstrual cycle. Again, it’s a one-of-a-kind product that will always serve a need and more than likely, never run out of customers. And, oh by the way, it has an awesome social component that will impact millions more. Miki’s success is no accident; here’s why!
