Writing is a craft. And, as with any important skill or talent, it requires immense discipline and hard work. Too many of us write to impress or stand out, and as a result, we’re often bitten by the perfection bug. It’s a great paradox that while great writers share important information in unique ways, the best writers master their technique by practice, practice and more practice. I’ve been a lifelong student of great writers and writings and one of the great lessons that I’ve learned is to write anything as if I were writing it for myself. When that light bulb came on, writing has become a much richer experience for me and has enabled me to connect on a much deeper level with others. When you write about what you believe, your work becomes much more purposeful and truthful, and it makes easier for others to share their perspective. A few years ago, Jeff Goins started his blog – goinswriter.com – to share his passion for writing with others.
