Moe and Rebecca discuss how to lead like a Major League Manager and develop Major League Leadership.
Leadership Lessons from Major League Baseball
On August 23, 2014 the New York Yankees will retire former manager, Joe Torre’s #6 jersey in recognition of his ten American League East division titles, six American League pennants, and four World Series championships during his tenure with the team. Like Phil Jackson, Joe Gibbs and Mike Krzyzewski. Torre was a leader of men who not only respected the human spirit, but someone who made it his highest priority to inspire greatness in everyone who played for him.
In typical Torre fashion, he dedicated the achievement to his players, saying “The Hall of Fame became possible for me because of what our players accomplished in 12 memorable years representing this historic franchise together. I hope that No. 6 will stand for everything that our players achieved.” Like all admired leaders, Torre let his example demonstrate his approach, and as Rebecca Herman and Howard Fero describe in – Lead Me Out to the Ballgame – leading others starts with this set of disciplines.
